Iseris "Isis" Shadowblade |
General Age: Unknown Date of Birth: Unknown Gender: Female Species: Undead High Elf; Death Knight Dimension: World of Warcraft* Appearance Link; link Isis used to have a perfect hourglass figure, but since her rebirth as a death knight she's grown lean, looking almost like nothing but skin-and-bones in certain spots. Her skin is so pale it seems bluish white, but the tips of her fingers, toes, and ears appear to be darker, as if frostbitten. Her eyes glow cyan, and she has long, white hair, which seems to grow darker towards the tips. Isis wears black armor with a hood that hides most of her face. Blue gems are embedded every-so-often in the armor's dark surface, and seem to give off a faint, almost mystical, glow. She also carries around a greatsword that almost looks as if she shouldn't be able to carry it around. Markings colored much like the gems on her armor are etched into the sides of the sword, and the entire sword seems to emit a blue, almost fog-like, glow. Personality Isis always keeps a calm, serious attitude when talking with people she respects. Her attitude toward strangers is similar, but with a bit of caution. If someone gets on her good side then they will realize she is actually a lot more kindhearted than she may appear to be at first. However, getting on her good side can be rather difficult. In life, Isis was always looking for ways to help others, no matter who they were. She tried to continue to do so after being freed, but thought of it differently; As if it was just a waste of time all along. She still tries to help others in memory of her old self, but would rather not. Something she gained after her death, however, was a blood lust and sadism. She gains a sadistic pleasure from seeing the fear her enemies show. However, seeing people she cares about, or people that remind her of someone she cares about, fear her often reminds her of her family and how she's changed. Likes

Family Mother: Baladiel Shadowblade (deceased) Father: Eraburis Shadowblade (deceased) and/or Creator: The Lich King Siblings: Aleriam Shadowblade (older brother) Other: N/A History Iseris was the second-born in a family of high elves. She was named 'beautiful night,' in the highborne tongue because her hair was as black as night, unlike most high elves, who have blond hair. Her parents never let her or her brother, Aleriam, far from their home. This was probably for the best, though, as they were secluded enough to be shielded from most of the dangers that seemed to haunt the highborne race. She didn't understand the need to stay so close to home, but never questioned it. For many years she lived her life in ignorant bliss. She had looked up to her brother, who trained in the ways of the light. She followed his example and trained on her own when she was very young, and eventually he took notice. He was kind and helped her to better herself, though. When he decided to travel away from home and help those in need she followed, hoping to do the same. Their parents were reluctant at first, but eventually allowed them to leave. They seemed well-off on their own, but before long they found themselves caught in the path of the Scourge. They were caught off guard, having been shielded from the world outside their home for so long, but fought back with courage and strength. However, Aleriam realized they wouldn't make it on their own and fled, making sure that Iseris did the same. they escaped, though badly injured, and took refuge in a nearby town. They had planned to stay in the town until they were fully healed, using the light to speed up the healing process, but the Scourge undead from before caught up to them. They attacked in the night and began to kill anyone and everyone. Houses were burned to the ground with people inside, and the Shadowblade siblings did their best to help any survivors escape. Still injured, they were at a clear disadvantage, but still managed to protect quite a few townspeople. Iseris and Aleriam had agreed to go separate ways and help anyone they could before meeting up just outside of town, and it was then that it happened. Iseris had just finished saving everyone she could, and was making her way to the meeting place. She could see her brother and the people they had saved, but before she could get any closer, she called out in pain. A blade had been run through her. She fell to the ground, and as her vision faded the last thing she saw was her brother's shocked face and the fear of the others as they fled, hoping to save themselves from the same fate. One of the townspeople held Aleriam back as he tried to run towards her, thinking he still might be able to save his sister. When her vision returned she remembered nothing. The only thing she knew was that she was now a part of the Scourge; An undead minion meant to serve the Lich King for all eternity. She followed his orders without question, learning her new powers and killing those in the way of the Scourge. The people were terrified of her, and she reveled in their fear. She tortured and killed innocents without mercy. It was only when she she came face to face with a familiar that she hesitated. It was one of the townspeople she had saved. The same one that had held her brother back from risking his life to save someone who could no longer be saved. At first the man didn't recognize her, but when he did he begged her to remember her true self. She hesitated to kill him, and he took notice. Knowing that if she let him live then they would both be killed, he told her to kill him, but encouraged her to never forget him and one day remember the life she had before her death and rebirth. After that things seemed to return to normal.. or more so, the only 'normal' she knew of at the time. She was given an Archerus Deathcharger-- an undead horse --which she could call on at any time, summoning it from another realm, to ride. She didn't think much of it, but the charger would serve her well in later years. Later on, another test of her loyalty arose. The death of her parents was in order. She still hadn't remembered her past, though, so at the time it seemed like just like any other order. When she arrived her parents were still mourning her death, Aleriam having returned to tell them the unfortunate news. Her brother was surprised to see her, but knew the pale blue flesh and dark armor of a death knight when he saw it. He tried to get her to remember her past, but her mind was still under the control of the Lich King. She could feel the slight tug of something in her mind, causing her to falter as she went to end her parent's lives, but it wasn't enough to stop her. Aleriam was forced to watch his parents die at the hand of his little sister, and made up his mind that this was no longer the Iseris he had known in life. Still, he couldn't force himself to end her life as she had ended their parents' lives, and instead fled the only home he had. He knew she would only cause more suffering the longer she lived, and so swore to one day find her again when he had the courage to kill her. Iseris went on to become one of the stronger death knights in the Scourge, a favorite of her superiors. She wasn't favored enough, though, or so it seemed. She, along with many other death knights, rode into battle. Their enemies were a small, but powerful group of warriors of light, paladins, that were willing to die rather than leave the place they swore to defend; Light's Hope Chapel. The land itself was holy, and weighed down the army of undead. The battle was futile, and eventually the Scourge army was defeated by the paladins. They were told that they were sent to their doom, and it was confirmed as the Lich King arrived, hoping to steal the soul of one of the most powerful paladins there. He failed as his own minions turned against him. The death knights, betrayed and no longer under the control of the Lich King, defended the paladins, and together drove away the leader of the Scourge. The death knights, Iseris included, regained some of their memories, as well as free will. They named themselves the Knights of the Ebon Blade, and swore to one day defeat the Lich King and get revenge for all the suffering he had caused. They were all given time to prepare and rebuild old bonds between friends and family, and Iseris took the chance to return home. Of course, it had been abandoned. Her brother must have returned when she left and buried their parents, though, as there were two graves, side-by-side, just behind the house. She was sad, but found herself unable to show her remorse. She hated it. She hated this thing she had become. She could remember how she felt before her death, and longed to feel the happiness she had felt then, but she couldn't even if she tried. Eventually she gave up, but tried to at least remain true to the morals she once had. The world had changed since her death, and she took the chance to explore this 'new world.' As she did, she did exactly what she had once set out to do with her brother: help others. She was much stronger now, and showed no fear of danger. There were some who feared her as a death knight, but the more she helped others, the more they realized that she and the other Knights of the Ebon Blade had changed for the better and were no longer a bunch of bloodthirsty monsters. She had gained the nickname 'Isis' in the time she spent on her own, half because some couldn't pronounce her real name, and half because she seemed to favor powers over ice and cold when in combat and the nickname sounded similar to 'ice.' She did this for a while, but the one thing she never found in her travels was her older sibling. She had been hoping to find him and ask for forgiveness, but never did. She knew it was unlikely for him to forgive her after what she had done and he had seen, but it was still something that haunted her. It was still something that had to be done, regardless of what might follow. |
