JOSEPHINE AMBROSE TENNISON |
General Nicknames: Prefers to be called ‘Jo’. Blaize calls her ‘Red’, even though her hair is closer to brown than orange or red. Age: 17 years Date of Birth: August 5th Gender: female Species: human Dimension: Apex Disaster Appearance Link Jo is skinny, as is average for her dimension, given that a lot of walking and physical activity is required of her, and she has little food at her disposal. She is fairly pale as well, although she goes outside almost every day, she keeps her entire body and most of her face covered, being rather paranoid of the toxins in the air, and cold temperatures. Her hair is dark reddish brown, messy and fairly short, falling just below her shoulders, although she keeps it in a high ponytail most of the time, with her long bangs swept to the side. Her eyes are light gray, and large. When she’s inside the base, she often just dresses comfortably in jeans and a t-shirt or sweater. Outside, however, she wears an outfit that was almost entirely scavenged from the ruins of an ApexCo facility. She has found that the weather-proof uniform of the field workers is excellent for surviving the harsh conditions of the wasteland; a tight, but warm dark gray windbreaker lined with thick fleece that is decorated with darker sections running up the sides and the Apex logo in white on the left breast and right pocket, heavy, dark navy cargo pants, and tall, dark greyish blue boots. She also stole a few things from the remains of the laboratory in the facility, most noticeably, her taser gun, which she uses to fight, along with the combat knife she keeps hidden in the side of her boot, and its holster, which she keeps strapped to her right thigh. She also took protective goggles, which consist of black material wide enough to cover most of the bridge of her nose with a thin white stripe and the ApexCo logo printed on it, and clear lenses, as well as a black gasmask that covers the lower half of her face, and dark blue rubber gloves to protect her hands from the taser, and especially Blaize’s occasional malfunctions. Her clothes tend to be cleaner than most wandering survivors, as she and Blaize have set up a pretty solid base camp, at which Blaize has managed to hook up power, heat, and semi-regularly running water. She also has a few things she’s picked up elsewhere, mostly a light gray backpack, a tan leather fanny pack she keeps on her left hip, and her earbuds, which she almost always has in, as she has Blaize to charge her music player if need be, and if he needs to talk to her, he can just possess them. Personality Jo refers to herself as realistic, although some would call her more ‘bitter’. She’s almost always very skeptical, and has a tendency to be rather cynical at times. She would always prefer to think a problem through to its most logical conclusion before acting, which occasionally puts her at odds with Blaize, who tends to charge headlong into a situation with little to no forethought or guidance. All the same, she gets along very well with Blaize, and teases him just as often as he does her. She can be just as sarcastic and witty as he is, and due to Jo’s stubborn nature, most of their conversations end in arguments, although they rarely seriously fight. At first, she can seem hard to get along with, but she is usually quick to warm up to strangers, and while she’s not exactly ‘trusting’, she’s generally willing to give people –especially other survivors- the benefit of the doubt. She’s not quite as easy-going as Blaize, but she is pretty relaxed. Despite her inherent cynicism, she prefers to at least try to keep a positive outlook, although she fails at this just as often as she succeeds. Likes

Family Mother: Ruby Tennison (deceased) Father: Wilson Tennison (deceased) Siblings: Derek Tennison (older brother, deceased) Renee Tennison (younger sister, deceased) History Jo lived most of her life on her family’s farm, several miles outside of the nearest town. As such, she and her family managed to keep well away from any ApexCo facilities for a long time, right up until just a few months before the disaster, when one opened about a mile away from her home. The toxic fumes radiating from it were strong, and killed off most of their crops and livestock fairly quickly, and in the weeks leading up to the disaster, they were all but starving. When all the factories exploded, Jo’s older brother had been the only one outside at the time, and was killed by the force of the fairly nearby explosion. The rest of her family managed to survive about a day before the Fallen started coming. Her parents and younger sister were killed by an onslaught that quickly overwhelmed their farm, though Jo managed to fight most of them off, and, desperate to get away from the horde, managed to escape, eventually ending up at the remains of the facility. There she found a single Fallen, a boy with blonde hair, who attacked her, but she quickly killed it with a taser gun that had been left in the nearby laboratory facility. She was surprised at first when a ghost rose from his corpse, as this was the first time that this had happened. She was also usually a fairly grounded person, but after the disaster, she was a little more willing to believe that this was real. The boy introduced himself as Blaize Ampere and explained that he had been held hostage as a test subject in the ApexCo facility. She was still a bit nervous, though, and refused to tell him her name, so he took to calling her ‘Red’, and despite her insistence, began following her around as she searched the facility for anything useful. She was soon grateful for his presence, however, when they came across a room in the basement full of Fallen that hadn’t escaped yet. Despite having managed to fight off the first horde and then Blaize, she was now wounded from both fights, tired, and in a position of severe disadvantage. Blaize, in an attempt to be helpful, discovered that he was able to possess the taser she had scavenged, and doubled its power. This helped a little, but half-way through the fight, through experimentation, he discovered his blue form, and the consequential multiplication of his powers. Now Jo had the upper hand, as her taser became both lethal at close range, and able to hit long-range targets. The Fallen were quickly disposed of, and feeling that he was on her side, she introduced herself to Blaize, though he continued calling her ‘Red’. After finding a field agent uniform that could protect her against the weather, a gasmask and lab goggles that could protect her face, and rubber gloves to guard her hands from taser mishaps, she was ready to venture out into the wasteland better equipped. The two of them discovered one of the armored vans used by ApexCo to transport captives that was still basically usable, if a little beat-up, and Blaize managed to possess it, powering it so Jo could drive it back to her family home, to recover a few extra supplies. They found the farm absolutely swarming with Fallen, and most things destroyed. She did manage to recover her music player, a backpack, a combat knife, and a leather pouch after fighting their way through the horde, but in doing so, Jo wounded her leg. Blaize managed to guard her, and clear a path back to the van, which they drove until they found a Fighter settlement that was beginning to form. They were quickly chased away from it, however, as Blaize was mistaken for a Lost, and Jo for an ApexCo worker. They lived out of the van for several weeks, as the back was large enough to lie down in, so they could sleep, and with thick metal walls and locked doors, it was far safer than sleeping out in the open, plus it was more than big enough to house their tiny store of supplies. Eventually, they came across the ruins of a small town, and just outside it, a dug-out bomb shelter that was deserted, but intact. This became their new base camp, and over the months since the disaster, they’ve managed to make it bigger, and even incorporate a semi-functional running water system, heat, and electricity, although Blaize has to use his powers to get any of these to work. They had also amassed a number of other important objects, notably a radio that Blaize has managed to tune into the frequency that the nearby Fighter Settlements use to communicate. The van had been long since wrecked in a fight, but they have found and wrecked many other vehicles since then. |
