Asherah Se'rah Kahl'si |
General Nickname(s): Ashe; Se'rah ("Sarah"); Kahl'si Age: (decide later based on completed history) Date of Birth: January 26th Gender: Female Species: Sea Dragon (Se'rah) Dimension: Valein Waters Appearance Link; link; link; link Asherah hatched from an egg as a small, pearlescent, snake-like creature called a sea dragon. With tiny fin-like limbs, she crawled around on land and swam elegantly in water. Over time, her scales shed themselves, and grew back thicker and stronger. The scales on her back grew in larger than before, like plates lining her spine, and the smaller scales that grew in on her sides and belly formed elaborate color patterns. There is a small blue crystal embedded in the center of her forehead which glows when she controls water or changes shape. Ashe is unable to fully transform into a human, unlike most sea dragons, and so some features of her dragon form tend to cross over. One of these features are the fins found just under her arms and on each of her legs. They are partially covered with scales, which extend from the fins to her skin, covering most of her legs, stomach, back, and shoulders. There are also a few on her face, but most of the time they go unnoticed or are mistaken for freckles. The jewel on her forehead in her dragon form can also be seen in her human form, and no matter what form she takes, the jewel always glows whenever she changes shape or manipulates water. Lastly, her canines are very sharp. Of course, all of her dragon-like features are often well hidden in her human form. Asherah can also stay half-way between her human and dragon form, leaving her lower half in the shape of a scaled tail with a large fin used to propel herself through the water. In both her half form and true dragon form she has reflective pupils that help her see in the dark. Her human form, despite the scales, fins, and other abnormalities, looks just like any other Kahlarian you might meet. Her skin is tanned, and her hair is very curly and dark brown in color. Her eyes, however, are less common among Khalarians, as they are vibrant blue. She usually wears very formal outfits of silk and chiffon, with a jeweled crown and sheer fabric to cover her nose and mouth. However, it is not uncommon to find her in various low-class outfits while trying to hide her identity from the people of Kahlar. All of these outfits have swirling, wavy, or circular patters, all meant to symbolize water, which the Kahlar people heavily rely on. Her more elaborate clothes are vibrant in color to show her rank in the Kahlarian society and to represent dragon scales. She rarely goes anywhere without some form of mask, and she usually keeps her crown with her no matter what. Most of her jewelry, and even the inside of her crown, has the symbol of the Kahlarian people on it, which looks like an oval made up of fins, a circular shape surrounding swirling water and a teardrop shape, which represents the drop-shaped 'sea jewels' on all dragons' foreheads. Personality Ever since she was born, Asherah was treated like royalty. She was given anything she wanted, and rarely, if ever, scolded. Because of this, she often doesn't realize what is 'right' and what is 'wrong.' She takes what she wants without asking and goes wherever she pleases, and up until now, never suffered the consequences of such actions. Despite this, she is surprisingly friendly and easy to get along with. She can be annoying to some people, but she always tries to keep the people closest to her happy. Of course, that's not to say she'll listen to anyone. She doesn't like being commanded to do things, and will often ignore orders until they reword it to be a request. She has also been known to make a big deal out of who's her 'friend' and who's not, often feeling that people should earn her friendship before she'll do anything for them without a price. Speaking of a price, she is easily distracted by shiny objects, and will often put off even important things in favor of gaining a piece of jewelry or something of the like. Likes

Family Mother: Unknown (deceased) Father: Unknown (deceased) Siblings: N/A Other: Kai Kahl'sa (Foster Father) History The sea dragons of Valein are said to have been created by the ocean itself. They are large creatures with beautiful scales, thick fins used to help them easily and quickly glide through water, and the unique ability to manipulate water to do as they will and change their shape. Most are associated with dangerous whirlpools in the ocean, which they create around nesting sites to protect their young. Their ability to manipulate water, as well as their shape, comes from the small crystal on their heads, which most people call 'sea jewels.' If cracked, the dragon will have difficulty changing shape, and will only be able to manipulate small amounts of water at a time. However, a cracked jewel will heal over time, just like any other wound. If the sea dragon is killed, the jewel shatters completely. The Kahlarians, a seafaring race that once lived strictly around oasis in the Ma'siend Desert, revere sea dragons as gods because of an old story in their history, which tells of a sea dragon that led them safely out of the desert to the shores of the ocean, where they built their capital. It's said that a Kahlarian sailor who is loyal to the dragons will prosper on the ocean, and some may even receive direct help from them in dire times. However, none of the other races of the world believe this or treat the sea dragons as such. In fact, many of them hunt the dragons for their scales. The larger scales on their backs, in particular, are highly sought after, since they are known to be harder than steel. However, the smaller scales on their sides and bellies are also rather expensive, as they are used to make jewelry, trinkets, and elaborate designs on clothes and furniture. Asherah was born on a small island surrounded by whirlpools, like most of her kind. However, her parents were killed by hunters while she was still in an egg, which caused the whirlpools to dissipate and the hunters to find her. The egg was sold to the highest bidder, and luckily for Asherah, that happened to be a Kahlarian prince by the name of Kai Kahl'sa. She was raised in the castle as a princess, and often received gifts from the people of the capital in hopes that they would be blessed. Of course, Asherah never really understood why she got such gifts, nor why the people treated her like a goddess, and preferred to simply be ignored. The prince who saved her treated her like his daughter, which some believed was disrespectful, but Asherah enjoyed his company, and so many disregarded it. When the prince became king, however, many demanded that he act more formal around her. When he refused, some threatened anarchy, and he was forced to obey the will of his people. Seeing her father-figure treat her the same as the others in the kingdom, Asherah quickly became distant. She hated the formality, and began disguising herself so that no one would recognize her. She would travel out to the docks and play with the children there. Together they'd pretend to be sailors or adventurers, running around causing trouble for some of the people trying to do their jobs. (Unfinished) |
